The Indiana Pacers held their preseason opener in their original ABA home, the Pepsi Coliseum. As part of the special event and the Pacers commitment to the community, all proceeds for the game will benefit 3 local charities including The Salvation Army.
This special night included appearances by members of Pacers ABA teams, including Bobby “Slick” Leonard. As a special tribute, Leonard coached the Pacers for the first quarter of the game as regular coach Jim O’Brien took Leonard’s place in the broadcast booth.
Fans enjoyed seeing ABA stars, the throw back uniforms and the other retro touches supplied by Pacers Sports and Entertainment. The Coliseum, which only holds about 8,000, was nearly full for this very special event.
