The final preparations have been made for Thursday’s 9th Annual Salvation Army Apple Fest. All that’s left is event day setup. Well, that’s not exactly all that’s left.
We need you to join us between 10:30 am and 2 pm for great food, fun and music. Lunch, courtesy of Applebee’s is just $6. Don’t forget dessert. MCL Restauarnt & Bakery will be on hand serving up delicious Apple Crisp. You can get a $1 off your dessert with a cupon available at MCL and Facebook or by checking into the event (or Salvation Army Indiana) through Foursquare. Of course, you’ll need something to wash it all down. We’ve got that covered too, well, Pepsi has it covered and Two Men and a Truck will be serving the beverages at the low cost of $1.
But why does the Salvation Army get businesses, organizations and the community together for lunch on the Circle?
Apple fest is an awareness event promoting The Salvation Army’s efforts in homelessness intervention and prevention.
On a single night in January, 1,647 individuals were identified as homeless in Indianapolis. Of those individuals counted, 309 were children under the age of 18.
With help from event sponsors, corporate partners, donors, volunteers and patrons, The Salvation Army is creating and growing programs aimed at supporting those in need in the community and getting the number of homeless Hoosiers on the decline.
