Since early Monday morning dozens of volunteers have been busy prepping for Saturday’s Coats for Kids distribution. These volunteers include individuals and groups such as: Christ the King Catholic School, Ben Davis High School, Pike High School and Funemployed. (Just to name a few.)

Volunteers and Salvation Army staff organized thousands of  jackets by gender and size. This year’s donation has been the largest to date. Collection efforts were made through donations of new and gently used coats, purchases on the online coat shop, monetary donations, and corporate donations from Charming Shoppes, Inc.

At this year’s Coats for Kids, there will be a little more than 13,000 coats ready to be distributed to children in need. Wow!

Along with the jackets, WIBC and CarX hosted Share the Warmth, a donation drive aimed at collecting hats, gloves and scarves. The accessories will also be distributed on Saturday.
