The Salvation Army is blessed to have many great business partners in our community. One of those partners is GFS Marketplace.
Today, GFS Marketplace presented a check to The Salvation Army for $5,256. The money was raised by selling Paper Kettles at the company’s 9 central Indiana stores. Customers could choose to support the Army by buying a kettle and putting their name on it. The kettles were then displayed in the stores.
The paper kettles were a new initiative for GFS this year, but its not the only way they’ve shown their support to The Salvation Army. For the last 2 years, GFS has held a Turkey Bowling outside of their stores the week before thanksgiving. Patrons were invited to “bowl” a frozen turkey in a special outdoor lane. The money raised went to support Salvation Army programs. Last October, GFS also donated the hot apple cobbler for the annual Apple Fest on Monument Circle, a program which supports The Salvation Army’s homelessness initiatives.
“We’re very fortunate to have partners like GFS, who care about their community and supports organizations like The Salvation Army,” said Jeff Stanger, Development Director for The Salvation Army. Bryan Siddens of GFS Marketplace said the company will continue it’s efforts to support the programs of The Salvation Army in 2011.
