Harvest Fest is October 4, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis.

Autumn is here and so is Harvest Fest! Join us on Thursday, October 3 on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to enjoy some warm apple crisp and vanilla ice cream, courtesy of MCL Restaurant & Bakery, and lend your support to an important cause. Bring along a nonperishable food item and get $1 off the cost of your apple crisp.

The mission of The Salvation Army Harvest Fest is to raise awareness of hunger issues facing our neighbors in Indianapolis and assist The Salvation Army in providing food and meals for the hungry. Harvest Fest features a nonperishable food drive that will stock The Salvation Army’s local food pantries that in turn provide groceries to those in need in the community.

Almost 20 percent of Central Indiana Hoosiers struggle to put food on their tables. In 2012, The Salvation Army helped by serving 500,000 meals to those in need.  As these needs increase, so will the support provided by The Salvation Army and caring members of our community who offer donations, volunteer and spread the word that The Salvation Army is here to help.

In addition to our food collection, at noon the Walmart Foundation will present a check to The Salvation Army that will provide immediate assistance to thousands of hungry families right here in Indiana.

We’ll see you on Thursday, rain or shine. Remember to bring along those nonperishable food items and help The Salvation Army fight hunger in  Central Indiana.
