Indianapolis – The Lilly Endowment is giving a $10 million gift to The Salvation Army to assist with the ongoing relief efforts in the storm ravaged Gulf Coast and Midwest. This brings the amount of funding pledged to disaster relief by the endowment up to $60 million for 2008.
In June, the Lilly Endowment gave $2.5 million to both The Salvation Army and The American Red Cross and $45 million the Association of United Ways. The money was used to assist Hoosiers affected by the summer’s devestating storms and flooding.
The endowment has given more than $50 million to The Salvation Army since 1959.
