Thursday, May 5 we observed the 60th annual National Day of Prayer at the Indiana statehouse. Commissioner Kenneth Baillie, The Salvation Army Indiana Division Interim Leader was one of many city and state leaders on hand to pray for a specific group.
The National Day of Prayer is a vital part of our heritage. Since the call to prayer in 1775, when the Continental Congress asked the colonies to pray for wisdom in forming a nation, the call to prayer has continued through our history. In 1988, Congress and President Reagan ammended the resolution and set the day as the first Thursday of every May. (excerpt from NDOP program)
