On a beautiful day in the 80’s, warm winter coats were the priority. They always are at Coats for Kids. Nearly 4,400 central Indiana children received coats, jackets, hats, gloves, and scarves at the annual event sponsered by The Salvation Army, WTHR-13, and Tuchman Cleaners.
The Indiana State Police Alliance provided hats and scarves for all of the children receiving coats. The Salvation Army’s Womens Auxiliary also provided hand made hats for the children.
The day went off smoothly thanks to over 300 volunteers, and staff from The Salvation Army, WTHR, and Tuchmans. Greeting and entertaining the crowds as there waited were Boomer and Bowser from the Indiana Pacers, Blue from the Indianapolis Colts, and the Colts Cheerleaders.
The day was once again made possible by the overwhelming generosity of Hoosiers who donated over 8,400 coats and more than $9,600 to buy new coats. The Coats for Kids program is in its 22nd year helping those in need in our community.
