More than 4,600 children in central Indiana received a jacket through Coats for Kids in 2011, but there is still much more to offer.

As part of the annual campaign that was started 26 year’s ago by WTHR’s Bob Gregory, we also try to send these children home with hats and gloves. Unfortunately, there always seems to be a shortage of these items. Fortunately, there are amazing businesses in the community offering a solution.

WIBC has teamed up with Car-X and The Salvation Army to create a campaign sure to compliment Coats for Kids. Share the Warmth is a month-long collection of hats, gloves, mittens and scarves. Donation bins are located at Indianapolis-area Car-X locations throughout the month of September. There’s even some incentive to donate. Car-X has generously offered $10 off an oil change for any donation made.

All Share the warmth donations will be collected by The Salvation Army and passed out along with jackets during the October 20 Coats for Kids distribution at the fairgrounds.
