A family in Indy is about to be evicted after falling behind in rent due to the father’s unemployment. A single-mother of three can’t make ends meet with two jobs and mounting medical bills. A homeless teenager falls asleep during class because his bed is a couch he shares with his little brother at a friend’s house.
We are called upon to help these people during the holidays. Giving our spare change at The Salvation Army kettles during Christmas has become a tradition. But the needs that we at the Army work to serve don’t just appear during the winter months. Just this past month, over 200 homeless women and children came to our shelter seeking help. We took care of their basic needs and served over 8,000 meals. How? Because the the spirit of giving is alive and well and needed – ALL year long!
We’re calling that spirit of giving “Christmas in July” – with special emphasis on our partners who are doing the most good. Can we count on you to keep it going? Visit any of these business locations in Indy and make a donation in one of the paper kettles you’ll see displayed. A family, a mother, a student will be glad you did!
